Engaging communities, patients, lived experience experts and stakeholders in research can improve feasibility, relevance, translation, effectiveness, and equity of a project. Due to this, there is a growing demand for community engagement in research (CEnR) from funders, the research community, institutions and the public. CEnR is not a particular method, rather, it represents an approach centered on a set of principles and values and can incorporate a number of strategies, methods, and structures.
